Silvester Eduardo " Doogie" Board/Tee Capsule

Posted by steve lenardo on

NJ - Where are you from and how did you find skateboarding?
Fort Lee and my uncle's VHS of Police Academy 4.
NJ - How did we meet and do you have any good stories from those Friday night parties in the shop?
We met right after cigar smoking New Jersey legend Joe Took drove me to the shop, double-parked out front and then walked in with the club he kept under his driver's seat.
As far as late night shop parties involving alcohol, loud music, illegal gambling and the first board graphic that I did for the  shop representing all three. I have no idea what you're talking about.
NJ- You went pro for 5boro and had a colorway on etnies and worked with other sponsors,
what happened as your departure seemed a bit sudden.
My Cus D'Amato, Tombo, moved on from filming and managing skating and I could never really find another partner like him. Success is all about the guys in your corner.
NJ - What have you been up to since?
I finished my associates degree in drafting, got a part time job at a small architectural practice in Kearny and am currently drudging through a five year Bachelors of Architecture degree at NJIT.
NJ- As long as we have known each other, I never knew you painted or did any art.
Now we are on our second project. Can you talk about this board and its origin?
If I'm not skating, I'm probably drawing.
The concept for this graphic started when my childhood friend showed up to my house holding a blank canvas saying that he wanted an original black, white and gold piece for his new apartment.
After taking forever deciding what to paint for him I ended up making this graphic that came to represent more than just me and my friend but that elusive moment that made us all into skateboarders.
I sent you a photograph of the painting and you were really receptive to the idea of turning it into a board graphic. Especially after being reminded of our cigar smoking friend.
NJ - Anything you want to leave us with?
Yea, an invoice for six boxes of ziti.
NJ -Thank you Silvester  & Joe Katulak (Filming/Photo)
